In the February 2014 edition of Soundings Trade Only, the history and heritage of Grady-White Boats was featured. Written by Ben Sherwood, a 50 year marine industry veteran wrote this flattering full-length article. Sherwood focuses on the leadership of CEO Eddie Smith, who purchased the company in 1968 and was inspired by his father’s business principles and life values. The story makes it clear that through these principles Eddie Smith steadily has done what he does best: inspire his crew to work hard to provide customers the best quality, reliability, safety, performance and long lasting value. In large part Grady-White’s success is due to the close relationships developed with its customers and dealerships. By asking questions of and carefully listening to boat owners, Grady-White has incorporated requested features to create unmatched products that make many happy memories. The quest for being “the ultimate in boating satisfaction” is the basis for the management style promoted by current company president, Kris Carroll.
